I am having a problem with the 2007 Tahoe odometer and gear selector not working and was wondering if anybody knows how to fix it without sending it off or buying a new one?

I would take off the panels just under the intrument panel and check to make sure all the connectors are connected securely. Does the odometer not illuminate or something?

I have unplugged it and plugged it back in and the odometer and gear indicator doesn't light up at all. I got in touch with a cluster specialist and he says it is in the circuit board and to send it to him and he can fix it for about $300 and I am not willing to do that if I can do it myself.

You could get one at a salvage yard or ebay probably for around $100. You could fix it yourself if you know how to use an ohm meter and solder.

Wouldn't recommend trying to fix it theres resitors.. ICs... diodes and other circuit board electrical components involved... and getting a used one wont help either each individual IPC module is programed to the vehicle and so is the mileage... trying to save a couple of bucks will end up costing you a few hundred

Well the reason I ask is because I work on the 2003-2006 clusters that the gauges quit working and I was just wondering if there is someway that I can fix them without sending them to the dealer for a new one. But if you get one from the junkyard and take it to the dealer they can reprogram them to your vehicle but you have the mileage right or close to what is the original.

Yeup the mileage can only be programed into it one time... but even then again getting one from the junk yard is also taking a risk of that one being bad
