No Drive at All!!

Greetings all, i have a problem with my 99 hoe, 1st it don't drive, when it's in park i must apply the parking brake or it will roll away. 2nd when i start it up and place it in gear to drive off..won't engage, will roll, but very very loud grinding noises from the front and still won't engage or drive! trying to figure out what needs to be changed or replaced. any help will be greatly appreciated. was going to replace the transfer case and maybe the front diff. Pleeze help!

definitley need to check out the T-case, what will it do if you have it locked into 4Hi?

same thing wont move and make a lot of noise

put it in D and if the drive shaft moves then the rear end gears blew up but if it doesnt then your going to need a tranny

If it wont move in 4X4 then it would have to be front and rear.

I would jack it up and support it so all 4 wheels were off the ground..... Put into 4HI and rotate drive shaft, see if other driveshaft also rotates, then Tcase is probably good and trans is trash...

Wait, is this pushbutton 4x4? Have you checked the encoder motor? Run it from 4hi/4lo/2hi/ afew times?

Thanks guys, let me try to explain it better; when i put it in drive you can hear the transfer case making noise like a chain out of gear. when i have it in park with or without the engine started the truck will roll, the transmission is good, maybe the transfer case needs replacing? is there a vaccum line to the transfer case? The rear diff is not locked up. i just want to know what to replace to get this thing running.

Thanks guys I opened the transfer case an it was trash!
Lots of chunks of metal.. Looks like gears.
