I just purchased a 1998 Tahoe, and I have no air coming from the face ducts. The defrost works and the lower ducts seem to be working. I noticed on the drivers side that there are a couple of levers that are not hooked to anything. One coming from an actuator and the other above. Does anyone have a schematic on the actuators and controls?

Thanks in advance everyone !

I love this Tahoe !!!!

Thanks for the link....I think the actuator is fine, just these rectangular links that I think are suppossed to be connected to each other.

I am not sure on those, can you move them at all? To know if the actuator is good or not, with your ear down close to it, reach up and change it from heat to air, etc, you will be able to tell if it is working or not.

yep, they move and it sounds like they open and close a door inside. there is another one up higher and it has a spring in the middle with some white plastic clip holding it....???? I wonder if I can just bolt it together ?

thanks

hmmm, try a zip tie first and see if you can get the air working by playing with them, then you will know for sure if they operate like you think they do. If you need me to, I go talk to a friend of mine tomorrow morning and ask what he thinks. I am just not that familiar with those clips...

Thanks for your help !!!

They defintely have something to do with the doors inside. When I pushed one up, now I have air coming from the face vents, but when I change the airflow to defrost, it comes out the defrost and face vents ! UGGGG ! I will ziptie them together for now and see if that works. Thanks again

No problem at all, I will check with my buddy tomorrow, he is a GM "World Class Technician" and should know how they are suppose to come together properly. I mean, usually IF I have a problem I can't solve, he can usually not only tell me what is wrong, he can name part numbers from memory...lol

Ok, I talked with my buddy but didn't have the pic to show him, but he said it sounds like the recirculating actuator. He also said that either zip tying them or bolting them together should work fine and not hurt a thing.
