Well I've been lurking for a while and used some of the info on here for my vehicle so I figured it was time to put up some info on it and get some advice and thoughts.

I used to have a 98 Mustang GT, but decided to go with an SUV so I could get a larger stereo. I drove a 99 Yukon and fell in love with it. My uncle showed me this 01 Tahoe and I decided to go with it because of the suspension damage the weight in back was causing to the older 2wd model.

This vehicle is loaded and has every option I'm aware of them having for this year- 4wd, Tow package sunroof the works. It handles the weight of the extra equipment well too :)

The day I bought it:

I had 5% tint put on all the way around, and I'm getting the front windows tinted with an extra layer of 20% to match the back better.
Also Put some BFGs a/ts on it 285x10.5x16:

I just dropped the factory plastic side-steps, I want to keep them off but we recently found out my wife is pregnant so they'll probably be going back on.
Like I said I got this vehicle for sound, so the first step was powering it- alternators.

Only 10 images per post so this is broken up a bit.

I forgot to say the first addition was 2-way paging alarm w/ display on the keychain thing. I have it hooked up to the factory too so it has 2 horns going off at once, and disabling the secondary wont stop the factory. Some extra goodies with that but basically it wont be stolen easily.

I kept my factory 130 and added 3 380 amp alts:

Missing Link Audio module- it increases your voltage. My alternators idled around 13.8 and reved around 14.4, with this module I idle around 14.8 and rev to 15.6. When cold 16v isn't out of the question. It doesn't bypass factory safety precautions though so it wont mess up your cars electronics.

Gates Tensioner since I broke FOUR A/C Delco tensioners, they just couldn't take the stress.

The wire:

Soldered and crimped all the terninals so they don't vibrate loose.

Roughtly 200 feet in there now, some older mis-matched until I switch it over but at an average of $4-5 a foot it adds up quick.

It took this combination of bits to drill a big enough hole in the fire-wall to run all the wire, but it was worth it. Lined the rough hole with split rubber hose to the wires didn't short out or anything.

On to the equipment:
Front stange consists of an Eclipse EA4000, getting ready to add an Eclipse XA4001 and alpine h701/c701 eq in the mix so I can go 2/3-way active

I have an Alpine 9831 deck in right now, getting ready to switch my 9853 back in since it has much better x-overs. I couldn't find pics, sorry.

The subs and amps: 4 Fi BTL 18s and 4 Memphis 4ks

This isn't a build log so I will try to rap things up, but I build boxes if anyone needs one. I made this one 20ft net with interchangable ports. My favorite is 36hz. It is braced with threaded rod, double layered, and has numerous layers of fiberglass mat+ about 5 gallons of resin.

I never got to turn it up all the way, but I had the competition only SC state record last year and this year for the 'wall' 3-4 class though it's not a wall :(

Very loud and very fun, but now that my wife is pregnant I'm downsizing to 2 18s and 2 Memphis 4ks and 2 alternators.

Now I'm working on the performance side and really want better fuel economy and a bit more get-up-and-go. This upcoming week I'll be adding true dual borla exhaust (custom bent pipes so they aren't visible, I don't care for flashy tips) from the cats back, and an air intake. I think for convenience I'm going with the K&N Gen II FIPK intake. After I get the dual alt bracket on I'll be getting it dyno tuned at the local speed shop.

I'm not really about making things flashy on the outside since it advertises "steal me", but I think I'm going to do a 3 inch suspension lift and go up to 35s somewhere between tunes too.

Any advice you guys have on the performance mods greatly appreciated, as well as any tips on making the vehicle more fuel economic or a bit more fun to drive.
Thanks!

Thanks guys! I promise the next few pics wont be of system :)
I will put my current mileage and put up any changes after the exhaust and intake, then again after the tune.

Has anyone else on this forum put Borla on their 5.3? I'm hoping it'll sound good but no one really has much experience from my digging online.

Nice setup, makes me miss my 6 ported 15s but I like the room and a single sealed 12 is all I need. I love that 1/0 hyperflex tho, sh*t is so easy to wire.

Thanks. Yeah that wire is pretty nice to work with. I'm really thinking about stepping down to 1 18 ported but I know that still wont be quite enough compared to what I'm used to.

I dropped my truck off to have the duals run and after randomly stopping by found out he got some off-brand instead of Borla:mad3:

He had already cut my exhaust and was fitting the new stuff in, so he hooked it all up to where he can put the Borla mufflers in Monday when they come in. I had it run under the truck with it turned down right at the bumper, so unless you're under the truck you can't see it. I just don't like the look of tips or anything.
The K&N FIPK intake came in so that should be installed tonight.
