Hello all!! glad to be a member, I just purchased a 99 tahoe Lt with 72,000 miles. runs really nice. you'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge of theses trucks, I admired them for yrs, just never had a use for a suv till now. so look out, here comes the newbie questions! the only thing I can find wrong with the truck is I think it needs shocks, can someone recommend a good replacement shock?(these aren't a special type shock are they?) and the drivers heated seat doesn't work(any suggestions on were to start trouble shooting) could the element be burned out? that's all for now, I don't want to be a pest thanks Randy

- the Shocks aren't special shocks, and most of these do have a bit of a harsher ride.. I'd reccomend a good set of gas shocks from your local auto store - also the heated seats are prone to go out only on the drivers side.. - i don't know why but they are.. and yes it is the element

i like monroe, their very nice. but the Gas shocks are also cool.[/QUOTE what do you like about the monroe (are they not a gas shock too?) thanks for the input

i just know their good shocks. Have been around along time, I have replaced the shocks and struts on my 95 mustang, 84 mercedes, 86 cadillac, and 95 cadillac and have put monroe on all of them, the ride is smoother than stock, while in the mercedes and and mustang has been even better controlled when handeling them like a true sports car, and the cadillacs are smooth like butter, even better than the stock parts.

But I did some research and found that your best fit would be the Monroe Gas Assist shocks and struts. So yes they do have a gas model.

but I cant tell you really about those since i have just used the Sensa Track models. But since their both monroe, i would have no worries.

before i switched to the belltech setup, i ran monroes, and they were cool. I went from the crappy stock shock to the monroes and it was night and day.

I'll look into them. If I cranked up the front tortion bars,(never had a vehicle with this kind of front suspension) to lift the front up about 1" to level the vehicle, would I need an alignment?, and possibly longer front shocks? thanks

alignment, yes. any time you play with the torsion bar, its a good idea to get the alignment.
I think for just 1" of lift, maybe you wont need new shocks. I played with my front suspension a bunch, and didnt change the shocks ( this is after the drop, btw)

Both of the yukons i own, came factory with the front end just a lil higher than the rear-end so im not sure why you would need to level the front to the rear?

it has a trailer hitch on it perhapes the rear springs are a little more heavy duty, I like when they sit level or even a hair higher in the front, mine needs to come up about 1" in the front to level it. a tire shop told me that I could get a key from GM for those torsion bars to crank them up properly, about 70.00 ea. for the keys. is this true? thanks for the info guys!. oh! I did pick up a set of monroe sena-trac shocks, they were 50.00 ea

My tahoe sat with the front end a little low when i got it, they cranked the bars up a bit when it was lifted along with the extra rear leafs and new Procomp Shocks. Rides incredibly well, and sits a little higher in the front now (which drives me crazy)

This was a one owner(a lady bought it new) its all stock, I don't think she fooled around with the front end. does that sound about right 70.00 for each one of those cam lock keys?

I was told by the dealership when i got my 99 that they had the front a lil higher for better ride and handling.. - you may not need those cam lock keys if all your wanting to do is raise it a little bit.. - the factory keys will go up about 1 ½in - just don't tighten the bolt all the way - and make sure your cv axels aren't in a weird angle
