Hi folks,
I am from trailvoy.com. I have owned my GMC Envoy SLT for the past 8 years and now with almost 200,000 miles and a child on the way, I was thinking about buying a Yukon. I love my Envoy and so I will stick with another GMC. Looks like they are practically giving these away nowadays anyway. My question is what do I look for or better yet, what options should I stay away from? I probably won't be getting the Denali because of the price.

Thanks in advance. BTW, great website!!

There really arent any Yukons I would stay away from. I can tell you that the SLE is more of a base model truck while the SLT has more options. The Denali's are all wheel drive with a 6.0 litre, Most SLT's you will find have the 5.3litre v8 which is a pretty solid motor. You can also get the 4.8 litre v8 in the SLE and a few SLT's. I think they are good trucks.

I planned on picking up a Denali when I bought mine, but I read that they only got about 11mpg's so I went with an SLT. Some of the guys on the forum say they get much better than 11 mpg, but I just didnt want to take the risk.

+1 on Ballsie's comments. I've owned two Yukon SLT's: a black 2004 and now a white 2005. They had exactly the same options with one slight change: the '04 had captains middle back seats while the '05 has the full seat with the fold down drink holder. Personally, I like the captains seats option because they reclined whereas the bench middle back seats don't do anything. Both vehicles featured the third row seats and factory DVD player along with every other potential option except for NAVI. Both vehicles were the 5.3 V8 and I got between 16 and 17 MPG on the '04 and after putting 1600 miles on the '05 I am getting 16.2 MPG (combined highway and street).

I've got a buddy who bought a brand new '07 SLT with 5.3 V8 back in October 2006 and he drove it for 5K miles. His gas mileage: 13.8 MPG and that included two long trips to Miami from Atlanta. He promptly drove it back to the dealer and traded it in for an '07 Vette. From what he said, they gave him an excellent trade value as he and his family have been repeat customers for years!

Take care,
