Just bought a 2010 as our third Tahoe. We've had a '05 Z71, and '07 LTZ in the past.

The '10 is a black LTZ 4WD with Titanium interior.

Some pics are attached.

Question: While checking under the hood yesterday, I noticed that the coolant reservoir seemed kind of loose (didn't seem like this on the Tahoes I've had in the past). There are two bolts that secure it at the base and some sort of plastic bracket on the fender wheelhouse. The bracket at the wheelhouse was loose, and it looked like a part was missing (to connect the plastic reservoir to the inner fender steel)? Can someone advise if this is normal?

Meanhile, some pics:

Here's a pic showing the area I'm talking about on the coolant reservoir, and seemingly missing attachment hardware:

Checked and what you see is normal. The place on the inner fender appears to be a tab on the reservoir that slips into a slot on the inner fender to provide some support w/o actually bolting it on.

I suspect there may be a part missing on my set-up.

The reservoir has "female slots" (for lack of better term), and the inner fender has "female slots" as well. It seems like there has to be some sort of a male/male end splice piece that holds the whole thing, reservoir to inner fender steel, together that is missing on mine.

Thinking of a good example as being the old HotWheels track (connection similarity to that little 3" tab thing that holds sections of track together is what I am trying to describe).

Shark - would you mind taking some close-up pix and posting so I can be sure what the deal is here.

Also . I noticed that GM started putting cheap w/s wipers back on vs. the "blade" even pressure type from my '07. I went out and bought some nice Bosch "Icon" wipers to replace these (keeping originals for spare).

Also, is Rainsense gone as well? I know the w/s heater was nixed. That w/s system engineer must have been in cost cutting mode!

Also, I had the dealer install the fancy 2-way remote. Pretty cool, but fob is pretty bulky, so I'm still trying to figure out where I'll keep it in the summer when not in a coat or jacket pocket. The antennae mounts in the driver's side rear window (opposite the am/fm antennae in the pass. rear window).

TIA for the info.

Will have to check in morning. Thought my reservoir had a male tab that fit the female slot but will look closer.

I added the washer heater on mine. Same as the '07 had except the wiring harness is like jumper cables and it's hot all of the time when the vehicle is running. Should be helpful w/ bug guts in the summer.

Thanks Shark.

One other observation...that side blind zone alert deal is pretty cool. Still trying to figure out how it can tell cars from roadside concrete barriers and trees. My mailbox at home set it off tho, so it may have something to do with object being metallic.

I double checked my window sticker, and no mention of Rainsense, so that must be nixed too. Noticed today only standard speeds worked wet or dry.

GM really went with the long ball on the '07's with so much new stuff in the first model year. That was a great truck. Had to visit it on the dealer lot today to verify I was not going crazy about the w/s wiper change and that they had indeed "cheapened" them (the w/s wipers) up.

Actually if I had to guess, I'd say it uses the parking assist ultrasonic sensors in the rear bumper.

Checked again today (rained all day yesterday) and using a dental mirror, I could see that there is a male tongue on the reservoir. It does allow some fore and aft movement tho.

RainSense II was deleted. Don't know why other than just more "decontenting" that always takes place as a model matures. The original RainSense that I had on my 2002 TrailBlazer worked a lot better so I don't miss this version very much.

Sort of ticks me off that a $50K truck doesn't have a cabin air filter tho.

Shark. Many thanks. I thought it had another part in there (missing on mine).

Going to dealer soon to get it fixed.

Another question: I didn't realize cabin filtration was not included. Was that on my '07? If so, I never chagned it! :)

I think it uses algorithms to determine the alert condition. It won't alarms if someone is tailgating you since you are not in reverse. I have had, on rare occasion, had extremely tall grass near the roadway turn on my Side Blind Zone Alert. Also, if I pass something fast enough it never goes off. A stopped car for instance. I love the Rain Sense option.

Well, I spent some time at the dealer and parts department trying to figure out this coolant reservoir.

Apparently mine is normal this way.

The dealership ordered in a replacement part and it did not have any extra tabs in the looped hole, just the one white male tab integral to the tank itself.

Said they called GM even, and that is the way it is supposed to be.

Guess I'll just leave it be and continue to check other hoes I see.

On the blind spot sensing, I reread a 2009 brochure I had and noticed it said side/rear sensing radar vs. ultrasonic like the back-ups.

I concur, the algorythm is pretty good to avoid nuisance signals.

The land of broken dreams...
Lovely... You've inspired me to get mine detailed. (The GOOD detail)

As far as your problem, looks like you've found out it's not a problem. It wouldn't hurt to pop the hood of one at the dealer and see it it's the same.
