You know what would be awesome, if Buick made a GMT 900, like a mix of the Tahoe and Escalade  .

i wish they would have continued with the v-8, but that stupid fuel economy bill killed that deal. they were supposed to put a new 4.9 liter v-8 with like 380 hp. and 400 ft lb of torque, now their gunna put the cadillac CTS direct injection engine in the enclave for the 2009 model year. not bad but you can never have enough power.

They're putting the 5.3 we've got in our Hoe's in the Lacrosse for this year. That'll be like a little rocket.

*sigh* A little rocket....once you get past the torque steer and the lack of traction because of FWD *rrrr*. Actually, I kindof like the new Pontiac G8.

I do believe that it is FWD. And who gives a fart about handling foul weather. Thats why we have our Kons, Burbans and Hoes. If that thing was RWD, I would be all over it. I do kinda miss my Grand Marquis and all of it's all american yacht-ness.

I'm fine with FWD in rain and all, but it slips bad on gravel roads and such. Ehh, I haven't like anything Pontiac in years. Pontiac is kind of the black sheep of GM IMO ;) .

they have the lacross super on the site right now, but i think its RWD as i dont think you can side mount the 5.3

That's what I assumed, but I guess not:

The four-holer Super is stuffed with the 5.3-liter LS4 V-8 mated to a could-have-another-cog-or-three four-speed automatic transmission. The 300 horsepower and the 323 pound-feet of torque will whisk upsold octogenarians to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, if the torque steer at launch doesn’t snap their calcium-depleted wrists. The quickest Buick in years is also the fastest Buick in history, promising prompt tee-time arrival with a 156-mph top speed.

VEHICLE TYPE: front-engine, front-wheel-drive, 5-passenger, 4-door sedan

HAHA, oh dear..... Yes, that FWD thing just completely ruins the joy of that big ol V8. At least the Pontiac G8 is RWD, and I think you can get a 6 liter V8.

i dont know, my 98 deville is preety nice, and the fwd is not bad eather, my dad has a FWD lincoln continental, and it can smoke a G8. i think you have better control since the weight of the engine is on the wheels.

My thing is, when you floor that sucker, all the weight shifts to the back of the car. When the front wheels are the ones that need the weight on them in order to get traction, and the weight shifts to the back of the car...they spin and spin and spin....and spin. I must admit, I do like Ford's good ol 4.6 liter V8.

funny thing is, neather one have a pull when you floor it. just the front wheels spin insted of the rear. plus both have a traction control you CANT turn off so even if they were RWD you would not get much spin out of them anyway. plus the 98 deville is a piece of crap that im lucky the car starts, but when it does it runs great

My grandmother has a 99 deville that has leaked every fluid imaginable, but I still love that car. Even though the steering is so loose I have trouble getting it down the road without wondering all over kingdom come. Its pretty ghetto, but I do like it. She is thinking of trading in for a BMW X3 or a Toyota Solara......now for something completely different!

I just talked over a deal on a Lucerne with my wife and we decided that I'm going to trade my CTS in the morning for a Lucerne CXS. I found a 2007 CXS with 12k miles for $29995 earlier tonight on Autotrader and I'm going to go for it. It is silver over tan with nav, heated seats, everything I need.
They are going to give me $14,200 for my CTS with 79k miles (I took a HUGE hit for miles with KBB).

This is going to be strictly my business car. I'll probably put 40-45k miles on it a year and keep it until 100k, these things are supposed to be pretty maintnence free.

I'm going to buy this along with a newer personal car for myself. I'll put the $11k that I saved by buying a used Lucerne towards a new truck (Escalade or Denali). I'm not selling my '04 Tahoe, though, I'm too attached :D .

Heres my new Lucerene:

That's a GREAT car, and really outstanding in CXS form with the Northstar and Magneride damping. For something that stickers at $40k+, and is then usually discounted nicely, you still should be getting a very good deal.

We almost bought one a couple of years ago, and I still really like them. Very solid, roomy, refined, and just feel like quality, and can be had--as you've found--for very good deals with just a few miles after the fact.

Should be a great car:thumbsup:

That's all I was looking for. I don't need something extremely nice for all the miles I'm going to be putting on it. I've already brought it down to Florida and it rode like I was driving on a cloud. It is very solid feeling, a big improvement from earlier model Buicks I have driven. Not the best looking car I've ever had, but it's perfect for what I'll use it for  .
