What's up Hoe lovers, I have an 07 Tahoe LS and i wanted to add a little more bass. I was leaning towards a bazooka tube in the back. Yes I know the're old school but I like it because it give off good sounding bass. My question is, can I add the 2 bazookas to the existing radio with an amp? Or do I have to change my radio? Thanks

Famous!

You can run a line level adapter off of the factory Bose amp,but you will probably have to add a 12v power switch because the factory amp doesnt put out enough power to turn an aftermarket amp on. I just had this done on my 08 LTZ last week. I put in a pair of memphis 12's running off an Alpine M1000 mono amp.

depends on how much bass you want.you could probably get by with a single 10" or even a 12" inch woofer with a small 200-300 watt amplifier,it's your preference.you could most likely find a sub with enclosure for $100-$150 and an amp for another $100 search craigslist in your area, you might find someone selling a used amp and sub, then you would just need to get it installed.

the wires you need to tap into run off the factory amp.BUT the factory amp does NOT have enough power to turn on an aftermarket amp! I would recommend this install be professionally done because you need to add a switch activated remote turn on lead, and you also need the correct line level adapter to plug in so the bass levels will adjust accordingly,I recommend the In-Q adapter made by MTX,I think. It will plug in and also give 3 sets of RCA outs and and Ipod plug to charge and play your Ipod with the factory Bose.

in the past, BOSE units in GM's (thinking mid 90's camaro's here) had a line level out put (more or less) out of the deck, and each speaker had it's own "optimized" (read: cheap) amp located on each speaker.

that may be the problem, very low level out of the OEM deck, and impedance mis-match could cause the bass to distort. OR, the adapter could just take out the BOSE mid-bass hump.

i read on another where a guy wired it off his fog lights, and that way he can control the power, pretty slick, a amp only needs a 12v signal to turn on, no load. i think i would just wire it off the accessory output somewhere.

anyone got a pic of hte Bose subbox in the console?

If you are adding additional amps to the car, I would also recommend using a capacitor. It will lead to less abuse on your cars electrical system.
