Im looking at a 2005 Tahoe, white, tan leather, DVD full binder on service records. Its it great condition. It has 108K on the odometer but the motor was replaced with a crate motor at 103K miles. The receipt says Jasper reman long block for the crate motor.

Does anyone know anything about that type of crate motor? It has a warranty through Jasper on it. Any ideas on how to gauge a price for the truck? He has it listed a 15K which seems high to me but I think he is willing to negotiate. Any help would be great.

Also it is a single owner.

IMO the Jasper crate engine is top of the line. The hopes are this: Is it actually a Jasper engine or just paperwork? Jasper engines offer an install kit with their engines that includes-thermostat, water pump, hoses, belts, plugs, plug wires...etc...Check the paperwork for the actual warranty sheet and see if the owner will show you the actual invoice of the Jasper engine. The next concern is the quality of the install. Did the guy have a qualified shop do it or a local yocal in the back yard? The shop that did the install should also offer there labor warranty.

But I will say this, 15k is way too much. Closer to 10k-12k if is in such great condition with low mileage and the binder of records.

15K is insane! I would be concerned with why a engine that should have easily got 300K on the clock before death but instead needed replaced at 103K. Was a race car driver driving it? Teen?
