so far im pretty sure the grille is new and i like it a lot so no need to change that. i put a flowmaster super 44 in but i would like a more basey sound so would it be worth it to put dual exhausts in? i would appreciate it if some people can link me to things like new headlights, taillights, door handles, step tubes, etc that you like on your or any tahoe. Im new to the whole customizing car thing but i want to spend money on it over time. thanks.

O and for step bars...try going to local jukyard or craigslist. As long as its not rusted through it can be "restored". The boards and I will be more then welcome to help you in "customizing" your Hoe.

Please hit the "Search" button first.

What look are you going for? Lowered or Lifted? Big Rims or Big Tires?

I looked on ebay and found some really cool stuff. Let me show you
Tail lights: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Part....c0.m245&_trkparms=72:727|65:12|39:1|240:1318

Steps: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car....c0.m245&_trkparms=72:727|65:12|39:1|240:1318

Handles: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Part....c0.m245&_trkparms=72:727|65:12|39:1|240:1318
I don't know if I want chrome would that look good with my hoe?

Head lights: havent decided advice for this would be nice

Lift kit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Part....c0.m245&_trkparms=72:727|65:12|39:1|240:1318

i dont know about the lift kit because its really cheap and people say if i wanted a 4 inch lift kit id be spending 600-700 bucks or so. My buddies tell me to get a suspension instead of a body lift.

For Some Reason...Lift Kits and Chrome don't go together. ???
Its your Hoe. She's your masterpiece.

Taillights are sweet. If they made those in a red cover I'd be al over them. I think I'm the only person who has modified their Hoe and Kept the stock Taillights.

Stop bars are cool...its Ebay...type in that design and see if anything comes up cheaper...YOU WILL BE SURPRISED!

Headlights...What are your plans? Hids? Projectors? Many options out there...

I don't know anything about lift kits...someone else will chime in

Lift Kit: You will have to upgrade rotors, brakes and drums. It will put a lot of work on your driveshafts and U joints. if anything, 2-3inch suspension

Big Question: What are you trying to go for? any particular look or use?

Rims look great with a 285 on a 18 inch rim. cant tell you what style/make/type. look for your own IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE

Lights: Go to stylintrucks.com ONLY TO GET AN IDEA OF WHAT YOUR LOOKING FOR! there sumwhat expensive. THE PROJECTORS: nice lense but to close to the actual headlight it looks very cheap. Angel Eyes are a nice type of headlight by IPCW.

Grille: Stock Chevy Grille, paint it black to match and insert an SS grille.

Tailights: IPCW are the only type of tailights that fit perfectly like the stock tailights. No condensation build up at all.

Exhaust: the super 44 is just an ok sound. do a glass pack or cherry bomb will be loud. No matter what loud exhaust system do, build a very unique pipe set up. check my pages out (bottom)

Step Bars: Westin Bars are great, and stock steps are amazing.

First Upgrade: I would suggest 20% tints on driverside and passenger side window with 40-50% tint on the front windshield. And Cold Air Volant Intake.

thanks for all the advice guys.

im looking for an off road look, i dont want to change my rims to a chrome look to maintain the offroad look. and what you said about the grille, im not sure if black would look good on a blue car. i checked out your page and it looks good with your hoe cuz its black. im going to hold off on the lift kit for a while that will be the last thing done. for now im lookin to pump in 500 bucks to what i want. door handles, tail lights, head lights, step bar, grille. when i get back home i will post some more items im interested in.

The Headlights with NO projectors is a DEFINITE! Very clean look. Projectors make it look like a cheap peice of s00t. Tailights, stick with IPCW or Altezza with a dark tint. NO EBAY COMPANY CRAP! all fake and will fit terribly, you will have condensation build up and wiring issues. Fog lights, where would you want them? Usually there in the bumper which = New Bumper.

And the plastic trim...you dont have...lucky I forgot yours is a sport model. You could paint the Plastic Fender Flares over the wheel to MATCH the car. With the door handles, paint to match. My next set up is that, painting handles to match truck color.

yes i like the non projector headlights i will go with those. i meant parking lights not fog lights sorry. and for tail lights that altezza smoked is alright? the 46 dollar ones + shipping of course. the flare above the wheel would that look cheezy if it were blue like my truck? its gray right now so if i were to ever change it wouldnt i change it to black? and door handles: mine are falling off so should i just get replacement ones and paint it? they are already black so how much darker could they get? as for grille what do you think?

I don't want to sound off coming the wrong way...just keep this in mind.

I assume your young...kinda like me. $500 is not alot...exspecially when modding. I know nothing of your financial situation what so ever and do I care not to (No Offense).

MAINTENCE-MAINTENCE-MAINTENCE

I will title this thread. Your door handles are falling off! Please fix those right away! What good is a broken door handle? Last time you got an oil change, tranny service, rear serviced,...etc?

You spend this 500 on upgrades, but who is going to see them if the truck is broke with no money to repair. Heck what is good if the vechile you have can't get you to point A to point B? Do you know how much rear costs? Around hear in NY anywhere from $800-$1,000. Did you realize the $100 you would have spent on changing the gear fluid would have saved ya? What about a tranny service? We all know how much those costs...but here is the trick. I've seen it with my own eyes. I've seen cars with high miles thta have never gotten a tranny service. Trannies wear down just like anyother moving part. Know sludge builds up with the gears and keeps them moving. I've seen people get tranny services and the car doesn't go into gear. At my best friends shop we highly recomend not to get a tranny service after 80-100k of hard miles. Last instance, we let an old man who insisted on the service sit in a chair next to the lift where his car was being maintenced. Flushed the fluid and changed the filter. Dropped the car and it had no reverse nor drive. YES WE TTOLD HIM AND YES HE DID NOT LISTEN!

But any way...what about your fuel system? Our pumps and spider injection units are bound to go...do you know how much those costs? Do you have the money to pay for such atrocities. I say atrocities b/c they are $600 and up jobs (Here in NY).

Do you understand? I say use the $500 to fix your broken handles, from there start with matiance.

After that just designate what will be used for repairs and what will be used for upgrades!

There is no need to buy aftermarket headlights that are shaded. Might as well buy HIDS and get a tint from your local parts store and shade your own lights! Its been done and super easy to do. so for $120 at most you get some nice vision as well as the tinit look your looking for.

A SLAP ON THE BACK FOR THE FIRST MOD YOU PERFORMED ON YOUR OWN.

Don't be afraid to work on your HOE easier then you think!

Good luck,

Jason

thanks for the concern and info very helpful. whats the problem with getting those headlights that are already tinted? sorry i don't really know what HID's are.

yes i am young. im 18 years old and im still in high school. i live with my mother so my parents pay for any repairs. if the vehicle goes wrong they will pay for it. its apart of some deal we had. my parents paid 12 grand for my sister car and as the economy got worse they could barely afford my 7k hoe ( they had to use a loan ) so to make it up to me they cover the repairs and maintenance. i keep telling my mother i want to schedule some kind of appointment for my hoe to thoroughly check it to see if its ready to go off-roading and stuff like that.
