I'm a newbie on this forum and as a Tahoe owner too. I have modded my Tahoe with a magnaflow exhaust system, K&N air filter, polished it with Ditek paint protection and tinted the windows with Llumar. Let me also add that I'm loving it! It's a beautiful Black :Chevy: Tahoe 2LT 2008.:cool2:

I need to tow some stuff this weekend and decided to install a towing ball (not even sure if that's what it's called:eek: ) Anyway, the one I chose is this huge red one with chrome balls (3 of them) and it sticks out the back a few inches. The problem is, I can't use my parking assistant anymore. The sensors think that I already hit something. There are a total of 4 sensors at the back, could I disable the 2 in the middle to avoid this or should I flip the thing. Would any of that help? Anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks a lot in advance :)

check your owner's manual but there should be a switch to disable the rear parking assist sensors for towing and other things of that nature. i believe on my z71 the disable switch is in a row of 4-5 switches below the HVAC controls - can't recall what the icon looks like off the top of my head but i think that's where it is. owner's manual should say for sure, though.

Mine has that too, but I want it to work. I don't want to disable it except when I actually tow something. Anyway, problem solved. I flipped it upside down and made the balls (giggles) a couple of inches below the sensors :)

Thanks anyway.

You need a hitch with about an 8" drop or your trailer isn't going to be close to level. I found that with the trailer hooked up, my backup sensors automatically disabled themselves. But there is a button on the bottom row in the center stack.

Sensors will eventually shut off if they sense something there for a while. (assumes Trailer etc) The problem is if you have your hitch shutting them off and you would like to have them on.

Take the hitch off when not in use or flip it if yours is too high.
