need help on push button 4wd

i was out driving today and it was icey here in northern indiana so i put my 2003 tahoe 5.3 flex fuel in 4wd hi and it seamed like it went in to 4 hi but now im not sure when i got home i put the truck bach in 2wd and my dash told me to service 4wd so i shut the truck off and restarted it and tryed to put the truck in 4wd and i didnt feel anything so i put it in drive and hit the gas and no 4wd. i think it might be the shift control motor but i want to get you guys opinion to make sure.so what do you think? thanks for the help!

sounds like a switch actully. very known problem, easy to replace, if that does not fix it then it might be your T-case. But take it to autozone and have the code read. But its most likly the switch.

+1 on the switch. Unless you're hearing a great deal of clunking and/or grinding coming from the transfer case, more than likely the switch just decided to take a crap on you, which prevents the t-case from engaging, usually. Get it replaced and you should be fine. If it did in fact go into 4Hi while you were driving, consider yourself lucky that it didn't crap out and leave you stuck in 4WD.

i have a superchips flash pac supertuner with the diagnostics download that should read the codes. ill check them tomarow.

well it sounds like both the transfer case motor is running and the front diff motor is running but the 4wd is not working what do you think i could realy use the help

its the switch, i had the same thing last month. It was 275 to get it fixed or 74 for the part i think.

Ok I removed the dash switch and inspected no bad solder joints. Reinstalled checked fuses found a blown TREC fuse replaced it and every thing apears to work. 4wd hi nice smooth engagement 4wd lo clunk my concern is what blew the fuse any ideas ??

under the hood and under the black cover dirver side it was a 30 amp fuse I had no lights on the control modual good luck
