I am new to the Tahoe forum, but if it is anything like the Jeep Wrangler forum I know without a doubt that I will get the help that I need here that I can't get anywhere else. My 01 Tahoe died this Sunday, pretty sure it is the fuel pump or the wiring to it. The relay clicks, fuse is fine, and I replaced the Throttle Position Sensor. At first sign of trouble I listened to the fuel pump and it made a clicking sound istead of a whirring sound when the ignition switch was turned just to the on position. Now there is no sound at all. If anyone knows of anything else I should check before I drop the tank, please let me know.
This brings me to the real questions:
1) Is there a good spot to check the wiring to the pump before dropping the tank? In other words, good access to the pos and neg wire between the pump and the "electronic brains" to jump 12 volts straight and see if it is truely dead. With all the sensors and switches these days, I would hate to drop the tank and change the pump if there is a sensor I could be over looking.
2) Are there any tips, suggestions or warnings before I drop the fuel tank to replace the pump? My main concern is good access to disconect the fuel lines.
