hello

i just registered here to get some hints on how to get more power out of my 2000 5.3l tahoe.

searched the database but did not found what i was looking for.

ok, as said, i have a 2000 tahoe with the 5.3l engine. added an afe cold air intake (Magnum Force Stage 2), gibson dual sport exhaust cat back. this somewhat added a bit of power (hp/torque) but i'd like to have some more. especially in the range of 0-50mph.

what is doable , recommended ?
adding a blower or nitro is a no-no. laws are tough here in switzerland. not even catback and cold air intake are legal...

i don't expect my tahoe to do 0-60mph in less than 4 secs...this is what i have my other car for... ;-)

btw, my tahoe has 92'000km ( 57000 miles) on it and averages at 16l/100km (14,8mpg).

any hints will be appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Aside from opening up the intake and exhaust, you can reprogram the fuel curve, timing, tq, etc. in the pcm with a custom tune. That will help with the added mods and help unleash more hp and torque from the motor. You can buy a programmer and reprogram some parameters yourself, but you'll get more out of a custom chassis dynoed pcm tune.

thanks for your reply.

i'm not aware of any company over here which offers custom tuning. it is hard enough to find a garage which does ordinary services such as oil changes and stuff.

I have heard some great things about this company. I personally don't have a tune, but plan on getting one early next year. A friend used them (one man operation?), and said it was one of the best performance upgrades he has done. http://www.wait4meperformance.com/Index.swf

I've heard a lot of good stuff as well from Jesse at wait4meperformance. Chatted with him a couple times and seems like a good down to earth guy. Also chatted with a few people who had their pcm tuned by him and they love it.
