Hello all!
I recentally purchased an '05 Tahoe, 5.3L. I am interested in buying a chip upgrade, to boost performance and also mpgs... I am unsure where to even start... What is a good chip that will give me the best results for my $$? I have done some looking, but I dont know if I really need an Evolution CTS, or will I get comparable results with a less expensive option? Thanks for the help, I look forward to hanging out on this forum!

Welcome Hayseed,

The Evolution CTS/CS are good for a little more power and mpg's etc. They are also good for monitoring trouble codes and engine operating parameters. As for finding comparable options for less, with tuners for the most part, you get what you pay for. I have an Ensight CTS for monitoring that I use in both the Yukon, Colorado and the Dmax, but the Dmax tuning was EFI Live custom tuning.

EFI Live is higher cost but more customizable and you can do more with the software than with the Evolution or pretty much any "Tuner/Chip" out there. There are many people out there that can sell you EFI Live "V2 Scanner" and tuning, but I recommend doing some research and don't purchase EFI tuning from anyone until you feel confident in their reputation and abilities.

If you happen to decide that an Evo CTS or CS is the route you want to go let me know, I can help you save some coin there. But I do not deal with EFI Live for the Tahoe/Yukon's, etc.

Hope this helps a little.
