Today I set off to change the spark plugs, thermostat, heater control valve, upper radiator hose and lower radiator hose. Everything went well until I got to the lower hose clamp on the radiator. The tabs on the friction clamp are pointed to the inner fender and I don't see any way to compress them. Seems like my options are removing the inner fender liner, removing the radiator, fabricating some type of compression tool out of a bolt or attacking the fender liner with tin snips or a hole saw. I'm sure someone else has dealt with this before so I'm hoping to get some suggestions. I have a new hose and conventional hose clamps to replace the originals. Any help would be appreciated. Oh and all the other tasks have been completed. TIA

I just had a right angle pair of slip jaw pliers.... Then I used a worm drive clamp in return with the new hoses and radiator.

I dropped the passenger side inner fender liner and got it. My truck has 6" of lift. If not, the wheel would have needed to be removed too. I assume the radiator was installed with the lower hose attached. I don't think the hose was original. Those clamps were a major PITA.
Thanks for the reply

Those clamps are the devil. If you don't have the tool that makes them easy, they will give you gray hairs.
