lower ball joints

my 97 hoe is shimmering really bad is it the upper or lower ball joint?

jack up that wheel and wiggle the wheel up and down. if you feel play on the top then its the upper but if there is play in the bottom then its the lower. and if you peek at it when you shake it down then you can see which one it is

Like samotahoe said, if you jack it up, it should be fairly easy to see which joints are bad.

How many miles does your hoe have? A little advice though, if you've got at least one bad balljoint, then you might as well change all of them.

Yeah, if one part that is in a pair is bad you always replace them all......
