whats up people? i have been trying to find an answer to my problem rather than just explore. i have a 95 tahoe LT 4 door which it recently started to lose acceleration and kind of bog out the harder i hit the gas. im thinking its the cat converter, but before i make that expensive leap i want to be sure. a few people said it could be the o2 sensors or something else, but i have no idea. the other thing is that the truck had dual exhaust put on along with 24" rims and about 10 speakers with boxes that bring more weight to my truck. i dont know if the weight would cause anything like this though so im still guessing the cat converter.

any help would be great. thanx and take care.

any pics?! maybe its time for a tune up the harder u press the gas and it boggs more maybe ur getting to much fuel, id pull out a spark plug and see how bad it is, start there and for the cat to check and see if its bad u hit it with a hammer or something not to hard hit it if it sounds like a solid hit then its prolly full and bad if it sounds hallow then its prolly ok... good luck

thanx for all the replies and been busy with x-mas shopping so i will try to get on it very soon because it is just sitting and the longer you leave a vehicle sit ya get more problems. example is a 93 maxima i still have sitting for the past 6 years and it only has 80k on the motor.

as for the pics, im not good on computers, but will have my friend post the pictures i have tomorrow or something. its a nice truck though, its got a brand new black paint job, 24' Boss rims with Sumitomo tires, new yukon Denali leather seats, touchscreen tv radio, built in navigation system, 2 15" EV's, 4 12" EV'S(only 3 of the 12" are gold series), 3 10" JL W7's, the Punch Power series amps 800watt and 1000bd, 2 other cheap amps(poweracoustick), 2 batteries(Optima) and isolator, all tsunami wiring, 1 punch 1.0 capacitator, chrome dual exhaust coming out the backsides, tint, upgraded lights on front and back(clear lights except for upgraded red back ones), spider web chrome grill and way more stuff.

i will have pics soon and will show you guys how bad haters can be as someone recently carved ******* on my pretty black paint job. lol. thanx again for the replies and ill let you guys know what happened.

The rolling mass of a 24 inch rim versus a stock rim is a lot. Most of your loss in acceleration is the rims (more rim/less tire vs less rim/more tire).
Not to mention how harsh that mass will be on your stock brakes. Your going to go thru pads like crazy! you better step it up to some bigger rotors, calipers, and 4 wheel disc.

and ElectroVoice PA speakers made for dj's and club's in your rid, esh must sound horrid. Tho you did it the old school way :)

Replace your fuel filter!!!!

I had the same situation. Just started one day going up a hill and I tried to pass someone. I racked my brain trying to go with the complicated things like cats, fuel injection etc... Finally decided wth and replaced the fuel filter.. PROBLEM SOLVED! $8 and no more issue. My theory as a mechanic start cheap and work your way up. Judging by the age and if you bought it that way the original owner was more worried about rims and damaged hearing than maintenance. Replace the fuel filter and get back with us. Happy wrenching!
