OK i have a 2000 Tahoe with about 95000, bought it used but since i purchased it i always noticed that when the truck is warmed up and say i run into the market come back out start her up she gives me a little knock ( like pinging ) but only when it first kicks over then its fine.. When it cools down and i go start it up it doesnt do it..

So i was thinking is there a way to check the timing? or possibly adjusting it? i dont no if the puter does it all for me.. Thanks in advance ....

mine knocks a little on start up on occcasion. I think its a lifter that lost its prime and takes a second to get pumped back up?

With these newer vehicles I would think the computer controls the timing, there may not be anything you can adjust without an electronic tool.

Yea i can see this but when its cold is when its dry and should make that noise? it only does it when the car is warmed up and turned off then back on..

i was affriad of this.. So is there anyway to see what the timing is set at? and what stock should be?

I've heard my wife's 2003 Tahoe do that on many occasions. Upon a warm start up you hear a knock noise. I wouldn't worry about it and accept it as a characteristic of the model.
