Just throwing this out there. My buddy has the 5.3 in a 07 tahoe like ours and he said by putting in a K&N air filter, he picked up 1mpg both on the city and highway. Has anyone else done this. Hell for $50 this can't hurt.

I did the whole air intake, didn't really notice an increase in MPG but I did notice a quicker throttle response.

I second what fco said. No increase in MPG, but I do a lot of stop n go city driving. Throttle response and engine sound is better though!

well it is the wifes vehicle so I really don't care about hp. I'm just trying to do a few things to get a few more days in between tanks.

I've used K&N's in the past and have one on my Tahoe now. I have never noticed an increase in mpg's in anything I put them in.

I look at it this way; with all the pressure the auto manufacturers are under to meet CAFE standards, if they could pick up one mpg by using a different air cleaner, they certainly would do it themselves
