is it a must to run 5w-30

I want to do a oil change on the tahoe I just bought(99 with a 350 ) and I see the oil fill cap says 5w-30. the reason I'm asking is I have a couple of cases if 10w-30 oil kick'in around I wouldn't mine using up.

I use 10w-30 in my Yukon all the time.. 5-30 is what the factory uses

Not a must. Like GMC I used 10w30 too. Clean oil is better that dirty or no oil!! Use what you have

if you read the manual that came with the truck it says either, but lists temp. ranges on which your supposed to use.

i run 5W30 in mine.
