Has anyone tried to plug an IPOD video into the aux. jack to see if you could play the movies on the IPOD video on the nav screen while the vehicle is moving?

Also, has anyone found a clear screen protector for the navigation screen (like what you would put on a camera LCD or PDA screen)?

Even with the signal coming from the AUX. connection? I assume to install lockpick, you have to remove dashboard panels to get to the rear of the nav system. I hate to do that because once you pull a panel off, it will NEVER be as good as when it was put on at the factory.......

Yes, I installed it last night and it works great. Now the DVD works in drive and it comes with an additional video input you can use for another device. The wood around the radio was hard to pop off and once back its just as hard to remove again. It wont rattle or anything so dont worry about that.

The Nav screen no matter what video source is used will stop video after the car reaches 7 miles per hour so lockpick is your only choice if you want video in motion.

Which version did you get?

He makes it look easy...bet you were sweating bullets taking the trim off...worst case is you could get a replacement piece. Did you zip tie the wires together, might help prevent any rattles when the cables get bounced around a little while driving...

Nah... I am no stranger to modding my brand new cars.. It was hard to pop off but if I cracked it I would have just bought another so its no big deal. There is actually a nice spot in the Tahoe to mount the unit and it squeezes into a slot just perfectly behind the ac controls and everything is tight. No rattles at all.

So when you are all done, you can't see anything other than the stock setup, correct?

Yes, No one would know its there until you hit the mute button on the steering wheel 4 times in a row to activate it.

Nice....

So I guess the main advantage is being able to have video while moving..any other advantage you would consider significant? I would just like to get ride of 'OK' acknowledgement but if I am going to get back there, might as well do all the 'unlocks'.....

There are quite a few benefits but 2 that were important to me.

1. DVD in motion
2. Use of all Navigation features while driving

Other features are listed but were not important to me.

If you have a video ipod there are some other products that they have which allow full video and full control over the ipod but I did not care about that. They also have an on-star adapter which lets you use your bluetooth phone with the onstar setup but I have a verizon account on my Tahoe so again that was not needed as well.

Do you have to hit the mute button 4 times every time you get in the car? IF so, that is 3 more buttons than I have to hit now...getting rid of the OK acknowledement is all I really want to accomplish.

Yes, Your original question was about bringing in video to your Nav screen. If you just said you did not want to hit an ok button I would have ingored the post. Every single navigation unit on the market will hit you with the terms before you use it. For legal reasons it will never go away.

If you don't hit the mute button 4 times when you get in, will you still get the OK acknowledgement on the nav system? Sorry about all the questions, just trying to get as much info. as possible from someone that has it installed.

Yes, Every navigation system will always ask you to acknowlege the terms and conditions before it powers on. You will not get away from this. My Cadillac does this, My Navigator does this and every other navigation unit including portable units all do the same thing.

I bet nobody has thought of that before!

Why would anyone even know what you were doing unless you tell them. Your insurance company would never know and even if they did know there is no way they could tell that it was even on at the time.

This looks like it may work. It was the first hit on Google with the search string of "screen protector" & "tahoe". I was thinking of doing the same thing myself.
