My coolant has been seeping out a small leak at the intake manifold. I have done work on an engine before and am wondering what the best way is to replace the gasket? How difficult is it? Does anyone know a step by step website to walk me through it? Thank you for any help!!!

Sorry, it's a 1999 chevy tahoe, 5.7 liter v-8, and am planning on getting a chilton's, and new gaskets for intake and head. I will look at getting a torque wrench also, I believe i'm reading a critical factor to torque on each bolt?

Maybe I'm reading your post about gaskets for intake and heads wrong, but don't touch the heads.
Chilton's gives a very good description of how to change the head gaskets. It isn't a very difficult project, however, it will take up a Saturday. Not sure what your plans are with your ride, but mine went while I was on a trip and I used a can of Bars Leak to get me home. That was nearly 300,000 Kms ago and I just never got around to replacing the gaskets. It never leaked again and I never had a problem with the heater as I had feared I might.
Make sure you have good fender covers and a stool that doesn't move when you lean over the engine. They make life a lot more enjoyable while you are doing it and you are not left with a HOLY CHRIST in your paint.

1999HOE, I'm from the midwest, Kansas, so not from New Enland area, but huge fan. I love the sox for the team, franchise and everything they represent! What a rollercoster ride every year! I have read in several posts, in a pinch, it's ok for the stop leak, but I have also read how it has fed into other parts of the system and caused damage. So, I think i'm gonna try to replace it and get the experience. Thanks for the extra help guys!!!
