well, i needed a new air filter so i decided to just build my own intake system (basically because i was bored). i think it is a little "ricer", but my neighbor thinks it's cool.

any imput? positive or negative, i dont care...(lots of hand prints on the aluminum pipe, sorry).

oh, it cost me 103 for all the pieces and air filter.

looks nice. might want to see about building a enclosure for it to drop the air temp a bit and get the most out of it.

yeah, it's a little short. i think i will add a 4" piece in there so that the filter will sit where the stock air box was and then build some kinda heat shield....

That's very good work for a home job. I agree with boxing up the filter though. Looks good.

Do you have a parts list... I have been thinking of doing the same, as i also made all the intercooling piping for my other car.

Seems easy enough, 90 degree bend and a straight run over to the fender. good job.

well, i replaced that aluminum clamp because it didnt work very well. i put a silicone coupler on instead and i relocaded the MAF and that helped with the location of the filter.

now the filter sits just to the passenger side of the radiator. i removed the piece of rubber that blocked air flow around the radiator. now there is fresh air coming through the right side of the grille while the vehicle is moving.

i dont think that there is much of a reason to build a shield around the filter now that ive got that air flowing though there now. and i think the heat soak in the aluminum piping would offset any attempt to keep the air filter blocked anyway.

i actually put it up on ebay for what it cost me to build. i just did it because i was bored and wanted to do something....

i used a 4" silicone 90* elbow, 6" length of straight 4" polished aluminum pipe, a 45* bend 4" pipe, two 4" silicone couplers and the airfilter that accepts the 4" pipe. oh, and i put a 3/8" hose fitting on the straight piece and ran a 3/8" fuel hose from to the PCV pipe.

pics of the new set up....
