Hello out there, I'm new to the forum. I've read a lot of threads on shocks and stuff and plan to keep searching this vast knowledge base.:waytogo: I have come up with some ideas for my problem, but I was hoping for some recommendations for how I use my Tahoe.

I have a 2002 LT 5.3L with auto ride suspension(stock with 22" rims), 115k miles. The rear shocks are shot, the air pump runs constantly, and I need to upgrade anyway. I frequently haul around a cargo carrier on the trailer hitch and strap down a case that weighs anywhere from 200 to 250 lbs. (like the one in the website below) so with the carrier that's about 320 lbs tongue weight, with leverage from sticking out past the bumper so the center of that weight is about 30"-36" from the bumper.

So, I need to replace the shocks but I also thinking of something to increase the load capacity of the rear end and I am not opposed to ditching the auto ride altogether. I have thought about something like these:

Any thoughts or ideas, success stories, or a "dude, whatever you do, definitely don't....." would be much appreciated. :help:

Aloha.
