I have 1997 Tahoe and whenever I cut the HVAC blower on the the air coming out the vents stops flowing. Basically I can hear the flap close after a few seconds. When I cut the blower off the flap opens. So I thought it was the In-dash climate control switch and after spending $120 on a new one, that was not the problem. Could this be a faulty vacuum hose or something? I also notice, that if I turn the blower off then back on at the slowest speed the flap stays open. But as I cut the blower speed up, it like the air pressure forces the flap close or something. Any help would be nice, thanks in advance.

ok I think this is the mode actuator, based on what TSpain told me in this forum.
There is a servo of sorts that operatets the flap, when you have the pressure of the air flow, it will operate, but when the airflow is low or off, it wont work so well.
thsi thing is located near the drivers pedal if I remember correctly. I will look for the post and see if I can link to it from here.

i see what the problem is but I cant fix it

ok dude. check out this thread http://www.tahoeforum.com/showthread.php?t=6994

this is the one that TSpain helps me with a similar problem.
Alright I see the mode actuator and my vent flap arm is not even connected to it, its jus dangling. I can open and close it with my fingers manually. Its like the assembly has come apart and is missing some pieces. Where could I possibly find a diagram of it?
