Guys listen carefully. Im changing my tranny fluid to royal purple tranny fluid. Need to change the entire fluid, including the torque convertor, tranny and whats in the tranny filter (new filter too). How much fluid am I looking at when I go to purchase it at the local parts store? 10 quarts? my haynes book only tells me how much if I only drop the pan, do a gasket and filter. Doesnt say jack about empting the entire torque convertor and doing it the right way. help me out:mad:

i thought once you get your converter out you cant get the fluid out of it. Like you will never get all the fluid out of that thing, and not getting it all out and result in well contaminating your new fluid, im not sure if this is right or not but something i heard.

Whats the best way, IMHO, is to have the transmission flushed. They'll disconnect the tranny lines, hook them up to their machine and new fluid will be pumped in and old fluid will be pumped out.

Why are you switching?

It is definitely better than standard ATF. They say the synthetic will mix with regular ATF, but suggest that it is best when it can be installed fresh.

I switched to it at the last rebuild. My transmission shop suggested going synthetic for better performance mainly because it holds it's consistency through the temperature changes.

Other than that I can't tell the difference. :confused2:

switching because I love my tahoe:patriot:. and because switching oil, tranny, and gear oils can boost hp up to 18hp and help gas mileage. dont no about you but this beast loves gas:cryin:. want to make sure i dump all the old b4 i put in the purp. gonna take it to my guy at jiffy lube, do the machine thing with new tranny filter ....then throw the purp :crazy:in there. might not do the gear oils til after spring because im gonna put 410s in this beast. :D

Just a tad bit of advice if anyone ever wants to do the complete tranny swap like me. Get the royal purple atf off of ebay. 135 compared to dam near 190 at the local parts stores here in town. yikes
