1998 5.7L 4x4 2 door, 255,000. New tranny at 120K, new radiator two years ago, replaced EGR valve, alternator, master cylinder. Leaking intake gasket in 2001. Slow leak returned a couple years ago and I chose to ignore it until it blew out last night. Will be replacing the intake gasket since I had already bought everything I needed but was easier to just add coolant as needed. Amazingly the tie rods, pitman, drag link and ball joints are still original, steering gear is sloppy though.

Still my favorite ride and daily driver. I like to think of the commercial where coins blow out of the vents, because thats what every mile I put on it does.

Mine is doing emergency duty as a work truck (totaled a 2002 GMC Sierra) and just turned 213,00. I have had the master cylinder replaced, and my dad owned her for the first 90,000 and had the tranny repaired once. Otherwise, she chews up brakes and gas and I love 'er.

2007 LTZ with 125K highway miles. No problems. It still looks and runs great. I've used Mobil 1 since new. I follow the scheduled maintenance requirements to the letter.

1985 2door 4WD K5 - 85kmiles - 130k miles *stolen*
Had to replace crank bearings at 110, trans rebuild at 120.

1991 2door 4wd 1500 92kmiles - 175kmiles
I destroyed this one, what can I say.:sad:.. I know.. It ran with cracked and missing teeth in the rear end for 40k before it was apparent.

1999 2door 4wd Sport 32k miles - 163k.... still going.
I have replaced water pump, fuel pump, AC pump, right head gasket, rotors an ongoing battle, rear U joint, oil cooler adapter and hoses, shocks, alternator..... Transfer case and transmission going strong, engine running well.

Quarter million miles and still going!

My 1997 Tahoe just rolled over 252,000 miles a few weeks ago! Original engine, transmission, and drivetrain.

My 1999 Tahoe has 299879 miles. I bought it with 50000.
It has had intake manifold gasket failure, 2 fuel pumps, ball joint,
front axle failure, radiator...Otherwise same engine and transmission.
It has traveled from NC to Idaho. I tow a small boat occassionally.

It is currently in the shop, getting new shocks and a lot of Happy 300K
maintenance. I hope to get to 1 million miles, but I will be 93 years old
at my current rate of 30000 miles per year.

i love my truck

Does it make sense to remove Oil cooler on tahoe?

I have a 99 Tahoe. I'm about to replace the oil cooler lines again (3rd) time. They leak where they go into the radiator.
I rarely tow and then only short distances and light load (17ft boat). Does it make sense to cap off the oil cooler, get rid of the lines? I have 300,000 miles
and everything on the truck (thanks to spending lots of money) in in excellent
condition.
