Guys,

I am having trouble getting the part number 1 removed from my door. I have been pulling on it gently and prying it with a putty knife, but I cant get it to come off. It feels like it is attached right at the center of the piece somhow, and I dont want to bust it... am I missing a secret technique?

Also, for the wiring under the window controls area(#2), is there some magic to make the mechanical aspects of the plug function? Like, i want to remove the plug to pull the panel, but i ( im so embarrased) cannot get the plug to release. Ive tried the tabs and pushing every possibe release thing, but the damn thing just wont pull out.
thanks,
Pete

The push in clips GM used in these body style are a PITA. If you don't have a panel removal tool, you can use a something like a stiff putty knife. You just have to pull on the trim a little harder than most other trim. As for the harnesses; try pushing them back in all the way, then use a flat tipped screwdriver or similar tool to push in the release tab and twist the driver at the same time.

The reason I ask is I'm installing new door speakers, and untimately a new head unit. I have to do each door one at a time, because I need to drive it daily, so I work a little on it each day.

I got the panel rivet thing out... not to much trouble, its just that triangle piece thats giving me a hard time.

Ill get a pic of that connector and post it up here, Just to make sure Im on the same page.

And dude, I wanted to tell you I was sorry to hear about that attempted theft of your ride.

ok this is the connector in question.
I have circled the business portion of it in red.

I can depress the tab, and it makes a small click sound, but the plug will not pull from the receptacle..
I know it sounds corny, but I pried, and tugged and pulled. Either Im an idiot (which is totally possible) or this connector has a secret. Or its just plain stuck..
On the opposite side of the tab/lock thingy is a simple alignment guide. I think there is no locking feature that I am missing on that side. But I did look there.

I got a feeling this radio idea is gonna take a while...

i haven't delt with the door panels yet on mine but the plugs on my dash Trim ring for the 4wd, lights, and all that good crap were really in there. came down to a screwdriver and several chioce words to get them apart...

looks like the same style connector. you really have to jam that tab in to get it to disengage.

yeah that corner piece you have to pull hard and if it`s cold outside it`s that
harder to come off with out breaking.

There all a pain to get to come off - the Triangle peice on the door, you gotta pull hard and like push it towards the front while pulling - it uses the little plastic connector thing that is extremly cheap from the dealer so even if the connector does break its replaceable - the wiring is just as equally as hard to get off - best bet is to use a flat head and (i've broke several connector peices and they push back in and hold very well) try your best and dissconnecting it in each spot - while pulling with maybe some small pliars?

for that little triangle thing there is some putty type stuf holding the push clip in there. you have to pull hard but slowly.

Just pry on it. I used a small pry bar to pop it out. It only has one of the plastic pannel clips holding it in, the same as the rest of the door pannel.

Humm... good place for a tweeter. :)
