I bought a set of the Doorman Help! series pins but have not installed them yet, it is not the pins themselves that fail but the bushings which are usually brass

For a parking brake, what is your issue? Is the pedal broken or is it an issue with the brakes themselves? You can adjust the rear drums to tighten them up which (if they are loose) will help with braking (especially with a trailer) and improve performance of the E-Brake

Where are you adjusting the parking brake at?

Ive used Dorman brand several times and come to the conclusion they are crap. I went to Advance Auto for my last set and they have held up much better, seems the bushing is more silver in color than brass.....

i haven't adjusted any thing yet. i crawled under and saw that all is connected and moving, the cable is adjusted all the way to shorten it. i have not pulled the rotors yet to check the linings or adjustments. i can't find an external hole to adjust them.. so i guss i have to pull the rotors.

Its very easy, jack up the back of the truck, take the wheel off, give the cap a hard, hard wack with a rubber or rawhide mallet (you could use a regular hammer, but I like to be safe)

Slide it off, inside there is a star gear that turns to adjust, ratchet that up, try the cap back on every half dozen turns or so, as soon as it wont go on, back it off a few turns, you are looking to be able to turn the wheel freely, but not have it spin on its own (you have to do these adjustments with the ebrake/brake off, so you need to really chock the front wheels)

Should be a rubber plug from the outside you can adjust the star with as well, may have to back it off a tad to get the Drums off as the shoes tend to wear a grove/ lip on the drums.

Mine didn't have that, of course the entire rear axle was replaced not long ago and it may have come off another suburban, Tahoe, Silverado, who knows
