Part 1.

I've been thinking about getting a K&N 77 Series, but I have a question. On my stock air filter housing, there's something plugged in where the filter box meets what I guess would be the air flow housing. It has "DELPHI" on it.
What is that.. what does it do.. and does it plug in anywhere on the K&N Air flow kits? If not, what do you do with it, and does it have any affect on the engine's ability?

Part 2.

I had an AIRAID intake on my 4.3L V6 (94' Chevy), so the 77 Series looks really familiar. But I've heard people say the K&N 57 series is good too. What I don't get is how it attaches. All the photos I've seen of it have the filter, and the heat shroud... but no hose to attach it all. Does it come with a hose too, or does it somehow attach to the stock air flow housing?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I believe the 57 is 50 state legal and no claim is made for the 77. The 77 pulls approx 1HP lower at 4900 RPM opposed to the 57 at 15HP at 5900RPM. The 77 is polished stainless steel and the 57 appears to be black plastic. I'll let you know when my 57 arrives tomorrow.

Got my K&N 77 Series intake put in

Man it sounds good too! I Like the look for the chrome tubing on the 77 Series. I also like the way it looks with the old air flow housing taken out. It opens up the engine compartment and makes it look strong.

Got mine from stylintrucks.com, and got free shipping.

Not too difficult to install either.

Later all

Here's a few pics of the new, and stock intake.

I put mine in last weekend and am very pleased with the result. It took about an hour or so. The only real issue was trimming the fan shroud because of just not enough room to get the unit onto the FI input. I had to Dremel about an inch and a half out.

The unit comes with a CARB sticker for the 50 state legal stuff. You really can't hear it unless you really romp on it and then the Magnaflow lets you know it is there. Nice sounds all around.

Just noticed something-

The tube that goes from the radiator to the coolant overflow container was above the stock intake. I have it below my K&N 77. Do any of you think it will really make a difference? It's not like it drops a whole lot. Maybe 4 inches lower than it was before the intake upgrade.

I guess aesthetically it looks cleaner without it above the tube, that's why I installed it that way.

Thanks
