Please help! I have a 2002 GMC Yukon XL 4WD w. 94,000 miles. As I was driving home today, it began to sputter intermittently. As I went up a hill, it continued to sputter, then died. As I repeatedly attempted to start it, it would run for a few seconds, then die. If I gave it gas, it seemed to die slightly quicker.

I am waiting for the tow truck to bring it to my house until Monday.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I know that the fuel pumps in these trucks are notorious for going out. That would be my guess also, you should be able to hear the fuel pump when you turn the switch on. Its a low pitched humm from the fuel tank area. If you dont hear that, its most likely the prob

Any idea what a fuel pump would cost? I had it towed to a dealer, but the maintenance dept is closed on the weekends.

well, here is an old addage that i learned about cars/trucks not running... no fuel, no spark, no run... this one, as mentioned previously, sounds like a fuel issue... sounds like the fuel pump went out. I doubt you arent geting good spark but you can pull all your pluggs and check them as well as your wires... now unfortunatly i dont have a lot of time with these motors so i am not sure where the "spark" problems could be previous to the wires, it used to be the distributor but these trucks use a coil pack and i am not 100% on how to diagnose that. if your fuel system is strait, look into your spark... if its not that that i cant help ya... good luck man!
