*Help* with DD install....

I thought you were able to fit a double din stereo into most 03'-up......I pulled the factory today and wired my Kenwood DNX-7100 nav/dvd and bought a metra install kit....doesnt work very well imo...im curious what others have used....anyway....it seems like my unit is too deep....it doesnt want to go back enough and when everything is installed...I put the dash bezel back on and it wont fit right or flush because its out too far....also the heater control is like 1/2" in more and leaves a gap between the control and dash....can some one please share their DD install....

There's a metal brace that runs vertically behind the radio housing. Most units will fit with no problem, but some will need to have that brace removed. Once that is out of the way, you shouldn't have any trouble getting it in there. I've installed tons of DD in these trucks and only a very few needed to have that brace removed. Also make sure you have the right kit and it's not upside down. The tabs that the screws go into aren't exactly centered vertically.

Im not sure about a metal brace or anything, My Yukon is an 03..it was kind of a bicth to install...but heres how mine turned out..

Yep...the brace is there in 00-06 models.
Side note: Sepiroth, you may notice at the bottom of your post edited by jkmotrsports. I accidentally edited, but returned it back to your original post once I noticed.

Am I missing a bracket or something? Mine is fine..its tight/secure...but now Im wondering what you guys are talking about..

Like JK said, the tabs are a bicth..you might have to install, then re-align to make sure your system sits straight and even with dash bezel.

Yes thats what it was....but there are also little plastic tabs and a little plastic ledge and the back of my unit would hit pushing it out too far therefor the dash would not go back on tight....I just cut the tabs and filed the ledge and good as new.....fits nicely now...I will have to take a pic....
