Hello guys,

I am having trouble with a 99 Tahoe with 175,000 miles. First of all, a little background. Shortly after purchasing the truck, it blew a head gasket. Well, one of the heads had a crack and needed to be replaced while the other was machined. After completing all these repairs, the truck ran fine for a little while. Then, the SES light came on and would flash while going down the road. The scanner showed p0300 and p0161. Well, since the plugs weren't changed when the heads were replaced/machined I figured that I would tune it up. Before tuning it up, I took the truck over to a friends house who had a quality scanning tool and the misfires were showing up on cylinders 2 and 8. Well, after replacing the distributor cap, rotor button, plugs (Number 8 smelled like gas badly), and wires (all AC Delco); the audible miss went away. I drove the truck for a little while before clearing the codes. Reset the codes and after a short while the SES light came back on with the same two codes. Well, after talking to several friends about what it could be, I checked the fuel pressure due to bad gas mileage. Fuel pressure checked out fine (can't remember the readings). I had put some seafoam in the gas tank hoping to clean up the fuel system, but now its smoking with what appears to be white smoke coming out of the drivers side exhaust. I'm kind of lost as to what to do next.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Brad

Could be a cracked head again (you didnt mention which one was replaced), could be a stuck open injector or two......
