Hi i have an 01 tahoe and I was driving on the freeway the other day and the car wouldn't go pass 50mph luckily it happened while i was exiting. The engine jerked and all the lights (interior&exterior)would dim dramatically every time i press on the gas pedal so i pulled over to the side and next i know the CEL pop up.

So i drove it home slowly and right when i entered my neighborhood the engine stalled on me. It would turn on for 1 second then stopped working so i grabbed another car and jump started it and it worked but it hesitate on idle and wanna stop working. I just took out the battery and the alternator and had them checked and both passed. What could be the problem?

The weird thing also is that the message box would say "change engine oil" after i start my car and its been doing this for a week although i changed my oil a month ago with full synthetic oil.

Yes oil level is fine. I believe its the vehicle speed sensor because all of a sudden my speedometer jumped up to a 100mph.

Did you reset the Oil Life Monitor after changing your oil?

On the 03 it's done via the buttons on the steering wheel - have to scroll to the Oil Life Indicator and hold down the button for a few seconds and it resets it.

oh nopes, where is that located?
Since you have an '01, to reset the oil life monitor you simply turn the ignition keyswitch to ON (don't start the engine!) and press the gas pedal to the floor 3 times within a short amount of time and then let off. It'll flash a few times if it's accepted, then turn off the key, then start the engine and it should flash a few times again to let you know it's reset....
So far as your CEL coming on, call up some local parts stores and see if they'll scan the truck for you. If they can it should be free (except maybe Pep Boys). Get back to us once you get the code read...

it was the fuel pump. Damn that thing was expensive to fix. i drove it to the mechanic and the car stalled like 100 meters before i turn in so i had to ask them to help me push it in. They charged me 750$ to replace the fuel pump and i had no choice but to let them since i dont want to deal with towing it home and stuff. If i knew it was the fuel pump i woulda done it myself with help from my buddy :mad3:
