My check engine light comes on, stays on for a day or so, then goes away. Soooooo, I took my Hoe to AutoZone and had them check to see what code it was throwing. I swear it said P0102, but the guy typed in P0104 and gave me a printout of possible problems. I get that it's the MAF one way or another, but has anyone else had this code, and fixed it?

It drives fine, but I did notice a little sputter today when I really got on it.
I have a K&N intake, and recently cleaned and oiled the filter. I wonder if I might have oiled it a little too much, and possibly gotten some of it on the MAF while driving.

Again, I SWEAR it said P0102, which I have read might be a low voltage issue. Would cleaning the terminal with spray be OK for a MAF?

Any help (i.e. cleaning the MAF suggestions, or previous experiences) would be appreciated.

Thanks

You could try cleaning it but I would use some Q-Tips and Rubbing Alcohol and be VERY VERY CAREFUL the little wired senors bend very very easy! Use one Q-Tip to wash it with another to dry and repeat process till completely clean! Also if you got a manual you could do a test to see if your getting the correct amount of voltage to it using a multimeter! Hope this helps you out!

What would cause it to not get the correct voltage though? Brand new battery as of this summer, and I have not changed a thing since the K&N install over a year ago.

I looked at the wires, and they appear clean. No large debris or noticeable junk on them.

MAF code, so more than likely you oiled it the filter too much. Get a can of MAF cleaner and use it. Should help out. To reset the code, either have your autoparts store do it or disconnect the battery for at least 15 mins.

The oil on the sensor cause's the maf to underestimate the amount of air going into the cylinder's. SO the motor runs lean, and a host of lean driveablity complaints.

Thanks O. I cleaned the electrical contact on the MAF and the plug last night, and it started up without the code. If it does it again I'll clean the MAF like you said. The code it threw was a low voltage warning so I tried the electrical first.

Thanks again for replying.
