Heater Motor Actuator Door

I have it out of my 04 Yukon. There seem to be several online. One vender told me I would have to go to dealer with vin# to get a part # to see which one I need. Is this so??

Your talking about the HVAC blend door actuator right if so yes becausepending on the type of HVAC system you have i.e
Climate control.. Manuel.. etc

Called a gmc dealer and they would not give me a part #. Maybe I have to buy a Ford next truck!!! Anyway took part to my local auto parts and he was able to cross reference with the numbers that were on the part. Seems to be working correct now.
