As long as you stay with a quality company (like those from Hedman) then you will most likely be fine. I have also heard suggested to use the header bolt retainers.

From what I've read on LS1tech the length of header you choose will have a biggest affect on power. From what they say equal length runners in a long tube header design is the best option.

Someone may need to correct me but as I understand it you will need to completely fab a new exhaust system if you install headers. The cats won't mount to those. You may need to just weld in extensions prior to the cats to reach.

Yeah, i've heard awesome reviews about hooker longtube headers, but i think i'm SOL on that option since i'm in southern california and the emissions laws are getting stricter by the day. In any case, I'm running an Airaid CAI and Magnaflow dual exhaust so i'd think that would only add to the effectiveness of the headers

check into some edlebrock headers for our truck. they're 50 state legal i think and bolt straight in to the existing exaust system. I'm actually about to get them. But for a little less $, Pacesetter also makes the same set. good luck

Drop dime on dynatechs or some pacesetter longtubes are a cheaper alternative. I'm going dynatechs with off road y pipe unless I turbo this bitch. Illest headers you can buy for these trucks, fit perfect and bolt up to your stock catback

hmm, well i'm leaning towards shorty headers....mainly as far as price and legality here. I know i'll gain horses because of my exhaust and intake. By the way, what exactly would i need an off road y pipe for, is it for clearance or is it less restrictive

The off road system doesn't have cats, and you have to delete the rear o2 signal with a pcm tune or you'll throw a code. They make another system with high flow cats that costs just a hair more but is legal. I wouldn't waste your loot on a set of shortys when you can spend more for twice the power and a burly sound.
