Ok, i have searched these forums for a specific topic but no luck, so im going to post my own thread. I have a 2003 Tahoe Lt w/ autoride (whatever that means). I haven't done anything to the electronics. But of the recent (and i mean like about 6 months) the truck has had some problems starting up after sitting for a couple days. Is there anyone that has had the same problem, can anyone give me some adivice to the problem at hand?

Problems starting..

Well, what does it do?

When you turn the key...

Does it just "click" "click" when you turn the key?
Do you have enough battery power for the radio, interior lights... etc?
Does it turn over like it's trying to start, but just not getting fuel?
Does is run for a second and then die?

Depending on your answer there are lots of things someone might suggest.

I know this is no help initially, but it might get some of the experts involved.

Merry Christmas!!

Intially the lights the acc work, but the lights dim out and slowly die. there is no clicking and it doesn't even try to turn over.

Thanks again, and Merry Christmas

When you did get it running, it ran fine right?

Sounds like your battery is going out. Check the terminals for corrosion first. If they're OK, then have someone check the battery. Sounds to me like a few days idle is enough time to drain any charge the battery is holding.

Hope this helps.

The battery and terminals check out. However, when running i have notices the it idles a little funny after a rev plus the headlights when after the rev brighten and then dim after the idle stablizes its self, take no more than a second. Any thoughts?

Go to an advance auto parts or auto zone and have them check your alternator, which is probably the issue.

That's pretty odd imo. But if I had to change my battery tomorrow, I might grab an Optima. That's what I plan on doing.

I'll sell you one for cheap, let me check cost on them tomorrow but I know they're marked up quite a bit.

Most of our trucks have a TSB for battery run down reprogram, which reprograms the BCM to cut power to certain accessories after the truck has been shut off for 30 min. or so, basically the bcm is keeping power flowing to things lock the power door locks and it is draining your battery, your batt will eventually die. Replace the batt, call the dealer and see if there is a TSB or even a recall for your VIN.

i took it to the dealer and had them reprogram the BCM, they did it and they still said it was the battery.
