OK...I have an '04 Tahoe with true duels all the way back(two Flowmaster mufflers),OK..my question is will I get better performance by running one muffler(2in and 2 out)? I have a K&N air filter and Ive been running synthetic oil for a long time now. Im not really happy with the way it sounds since I had the exhaust put on(custom from a muffler shop),it has this flappy kind of flutter sound that you hear when youre next to a guard rail or curb or the like.I want to get a little more fuel milage but I also would like a little more throttle response too.Im thinkin of changing my exhaust and maybe adding a tuner.Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
Thx...schlepprock

Welcome to the Tahoe Forum. Better mpg and throttle response are sort of mutually exclusive. Might do a search on Blackbear on this forum for tuning info.

My suggestion would be to get an intake to help with throttle response. I know you have a k & n filter but the intake kits flow a lot more air. There is a post in here from Lastcall about intakes. They really help throttle response. As far as exhaust goes, Im not sure what to tell you about that, but the Magnaflow cat-back systems sound pretty good. You can go on there website and listen to em. Not very loud, but they sound good. These are just suggestions, but I think others will agree. Hope it helps

Hey, thanks for the responses guys. I guess Ill do a little more research on the exhaust thing,Ive heard people say the engines need the back pressure and also the muffler acts as a crossover and all so Ill post any findings on here for future reference as I am a member of a ford truck forum as I drive an f-250 with a 7.3 diesel, the tahoe Im asking about is my wifes, she likes the loudness of the duels but to me it just seems kinda sloppy sounding. I dont know if its just the fact that each pipe is sounding out only four cylinders or what.
Thx...Schlepprock
