Hi,
I bought a GMC Yukon Denali about 6 months ago. Some time after that GM sent me a letter saying my manual was missing a page about how to obtain 2 free GPS updates. I have managed to loose this letter. Can anyone tell me the important information from this page. I need to put it somewhere safe.

Thanks in advance

This what you're looking for?

I'm assuming you meant navigation disc update... Here's a link to the Nav System Manual (this is for a Caddy, but same difference)...

Here's a scan of the page we're supposed to add into our Owner's Manual:

There's really nothing you need to do -- just make sure your owner information is up-to-date with GM, and you'll get a postcard around the 1-year and 2-year anniversary dates that you can use to obtain your new Nav disc.

No problem...glad to help.

So, how'd she ride with that cargo storage pod on the hitch mount? Do you think it affected fuel economy much? Looks like you got your work cut out for ya cleaning all those bug guts off the front! :D

hehe....the bugs came of pretty easily....I pour water on them each time I stopped for gas. I did not even notice the cargo box there when driving. I do not think it affected fuel economy either. I got between 18MPG-24MPG depending on the the trip for all of the highway driving. We stayed in Pheonix most of the time and did day trips to the grand canyon and surrounding areas. The down hill parts gave 24MPG...but going from Pheonix to the grand canyon I still managed to average 20MPG most of the time...and that was mostly up hill.

I got 18MPG in a head wind. travelling from TX to AZ.

That trip has been the only time I was really impressed with the fuel economy...it stinks in the city...only getting around 12MPG. Look for ideas to improve that....

Nav disc update - got my first free update today.

I got my free update disc from GM today -- it's P/N 25850927U according to the back of the case. It's v3.00. I didn't get any mailer with a code from GM, so when my 1 year anniversary was close, I just called the Nav Disc Center number on the site, and gave them my VIN, and they sent me the disc (no shipping charge or anything). I updated my information with them for next year, so I should be good to go for my final free update...

Oh yeah, also it's worth noting that there appears to be no "update" to the nav system itself with this database disc update. It didn't go through any obvious "flash update" process or anything, so it's hard to say if you'd be missing anything except updated road and POI data...

It's OK I don't think you're missing out on much. I find the data pretty much useless unless you like going on wild goose chases. For instance today I was travelling from Detroit MI to Sandusky OH. I inputted the address and the route that it mapped out had me travelling through all the hick towns and not on the obvous major freeways even though I said fastest route. On the way home it mapped out an entirely different route altogether. Unless you like driving through the backroads of America I suggest you plan your trip through Mapquest first. After making a million turns this way and that I was ready to throttle that voiceprompt lady.

You think the GM lady is bad, try the Garmin chick and her "recalculating" line.....the only thing GPSs are good for is to find the place once you get there.

Mapquest? On a Columbia, SC to Columbus OH trip that dam thing had a bunch of my friends catching US33 in WV instead of I77 to I70 :eek2:
