Short story: Pick up the Tahoe earlier in the week. It had the stock wheels and tires and was pulling about 19mpg average over 150 miles (mostly hwy). Went to 20" aluminum wheels with 305/55's and milage dropped to average 17 :skep: (that is corrected for tire hight) over the next 150. Ran a programmer on it. Did the usual...premium fuel tune (you can still run regular if you want so he says), bumped the shift points up, set the trans to shift more firm on part throttle, and adjusted for the tire hight. Left torque management alone and "on". Went back up in ave MPG to 20.5 over the last 50 miles. Needless to say, I am happy. So, I'm trying to weigh the next mod (last one for a while). Should I go E-fans (worthy mod) or large case "quiet" muffler...hmmm :umn: I will be towing in the near future, so I am thinking I should keep the clutch fan and go with the exhaust (just a muffler swap Dynomax pn #97771).

...anyway...that is all

Just for thought; replacing the stock clutch fan with electric will take parasitic drag off the engine, which will give you a slight increase in both hp, tq, and mileage. And as for cooling efficiency, dual electrics will pull more air through, keeping the trans, engine, and a/c cooler. The rpm of the stock fan is directly correlated to the engine rpm, so sitting at idle in traffic in the middle of the summer, the fan is spinning slow. The e-fans will spin at full speed, keeping everything much cooler.
Especially if you are towing, the electric fans are definitely the way to go. More power for towing and better cooling efficiency.

Hmmm...point taken, good thought. I am certain the itch to mod and install stuff will lead to fans any way ;)
