THIS IS a 2005 Escalade, im pretty sure they are very similar, maybe someone has some ideas.

Hey so recently my gas gauge stopped being accurate, it was right after i topped the truck off, ive driven it about 2 weeks like that but took it apart today.

This video was done on a full tank, the gauge is working properly but i have noticed the issue..... when you turn the key off the gauge doesnt go back smoothly or something is holding it back as you will see below...

is that the gauge or a censor? Not sure what to do here, i wish i could fix it but not sure why it will not just go back but goes forward perfectly, again this is on a full tank.

stepper motor is going bad. Pretty soon another gauge will do the same thing. Only fix is to have the cluster rebuilt. You can do it yourself, or send it off. About a $200 fix. I had a local guy fix mine for $135. Replaced all stepper motors and lights. New motors are supposed to be better and not go out. Search stepper motor on google.

I had a local guy that I knew from a fishing forum did mine. He does them as a side job. Came to my house and replaced all motors, and lights for $135. I've seen places that will sell you everything you need, but I dont trust my soldering skills. Amazon is your friend. LOL

yeah by the time im done with parts it will prob be $40, i would of paid that for someone to just come and me not deal with it, but what will happen, me and dad will give it a crack, and probably spend hours, screw it up, and it will cost me $300 for a new one PLUS old parts, my time, and sanity lol but i appreciate it.
