i got back in my truck yesterday after school and my gas guage read full to the rim, then about 5 minutes later its on E and the gas light is on. ive put gas in it and i definantly dont have a leak in the tank. i also called a dealer about any open recalls but they dont have any. they say that sometimes the guage cluster goes bad on these trucks. can anyone help?

well there is a free replacement of the instrument cluster up to 7 years 70,00 miles depending on what year your vehicle is ...as of right now it covers 03,04 with a class action suit getting settled to cover 05's

but i too am expierencing the same problems with my 05 yukon slt it appears my fuel level sensor in the tank is the culprit

so if your unit is covered there i would suggest trying the free cluster replacement first to see if it cures it .if not you can buy just the fuel level sensor for roughly 120.00 from gm or if you get a part number you can certainly find it cheaper online ie: ebay ,google etc...

just dont buy aftermarket for this problem as they do not generally hold up
