I've seen it a lot. Luckily mine doesn't, but my bro's 02 6.0 HD Silverado does.

My 02' doesn't have it. I have heard it doesn't effect the lifetime of the engine.

Are you talking about that faint rattle, when it is cold, that you hear around 1500 rpm,s or so, just as it shifts from 1st, to 2nd? And, it goes away when the engine is warmed up?

When the engine is cold, before the pistons start expanding. Happens at any rpm, driving or parked.

My Yukon sounds like "tick tick tick" when I first start it. So right after I start it, I hold down the throttle for 5 minutes or until my check engine light comes on. Then I know it's warm. JUST KIDDING!!!!!!! lol.
