Anyone had any experience changing the fuel sending unit on an 01 hoe or anything similar?? My gauge shows low fuel even after I fill it up and it goes to normal after about 50 miles or so. Makes it hard to trust when you only put 20 bucks in the tank at a time. HELP!!

Mine did the same thing,I drove it like that for awhile and the fuel pump finally died. So I replaced the fuel pump And it took care of the problem. Now some people say that you can just replace the pump or sending unit but others say can't or don't even mess with it,with mine I bought the entire thing as one which most that I've seen come this way! When the fuel gauge starts doing that its usually a early warning that your pump is gonna fail, this seems to be a very common thing in these trucks.Dropping the tank isn't all that either it took me bout 2hrs to do cuz I was cleaning off alot crud.

Thanks for the help. Did your new pump come with the sending unit?? Did you go to a parts store, or did you take a chance on some of the ones on ebay?? What kind of price did you pay?

What's the life span of the fuel pump and/or the sending unit? I have an '03 with 40,000 miles and the gauge is dong the same thing after I fill it, but needle usually goes to full after a mile or so. should I start shopping for the replacement parts now?

Thanks

Mine has been doing the dance for almost 20000 miles now. I have 109000 miles on my 01. I know how far I can go on a full tank of gas, so I judge my gas that way. I don't trust the needle if I only put 20 bucks or so in the tank. I try to fill it up whenever I can. I just want to fix the issue then go to Escalade gauges!!!
