I am wanting to put a Flowmaster muffler on my 99 Chevy Tahoe. I was under the truck the other day and I noticed it has 2 inlet pipes going into the muffler and only 1 coming out. Out of all the Flowmaster muffers I have seen they don't have a muffler that has 2 inlet and 1 outlet. I am looking for a 40 series muffler. Any advice on what to do?

I did this exact thing. both pipes run out the side and it worked great and sounds great. especially at idle.

 I just had my 97 done with flowmaster 40s. First off let me start by saying the hell with magnaflow and thumbs up too flowmaster:thumbsup: My tahoe sounds unreal. The growling in park alone is enough to scare you. Dam good investment.

Now then, to your question...I had the same issue with 2 pipes going into my old muffler but one coming out. No biggie. Just have them put in 2 mufflers and run them sideways instead of flat. If you want I can snap a few pictures of mine to help show you visually. I also plan on going back in a few months and getting 2 brand new cats to boot. this should help, let me know if you need a few pics. Hell maybe even a sound clip:eek2:

AWESOME.
well ok then. before you buy cats, check out this connector pipe from the header to the muffler. it has the cats on it already.
This came recommended by Boostaholic. Pics are in his thread about it, under the general discussions forum.

Magnaflow 23453 is the part number. $281.00 about.

tried both

I have a 98 tahoe with 350. I had a flowmaster and am now running a magnaflow. I was diappointed in the flowmaster and it rusted out in 2 1/2 years. I went with the ss magnaflow and 3+ years later and they are still going. I did a lot of research and found that after the muffler that exaust gasses cool down enough that dual pipes give no benefit. I went with the 2 in and 1 out configuration. The power increase was minimal with both brands. MPG increase was hardly noticeable. The best power for the dollar were headers. My mid-range power was noticeable better and it really helps with towing my boat through the mountains. Hope my experience helps with your decision.
