Flex Fuel Mileage?

What's the deal with flex fuel engines and mileage on the Tahoe. The Tahoe is rated at 16/21 but I've heard the Flex Fuel engine is 12/16.... Is that only when E85 is used? Please tell me that's the case... Who out there has a Flex Fuel Tahoe and what is your mileage. I'm about to take delivery of a new 07 from another dealer that's a Flex Fuel (didn't really want that version, but it had everything else we wanted) and need to know what to expect.

Yes, when you use the E85, it will lower the mileage you get...I've got the Flex Fuel motor (have never used anything but good ol' 87 octane gasoline) and average about 15mpg (I drive mostly in traffic on the 405 freeway)...a few longer trips on highways, I can get closer to 20mpg, doing about 70mph...but unfortunately most of my driving is more stop and go...

The mileage will not vary from a non flex fuel vs. a flex fuel capable motor, unless of course you actually use the E85! Hope that answers your question...

That puts me at ease.... I guess.
I would hate to get it and the mileage be 12/15 all the time. We don't have any public E85 stations here in my area...

I don't see E 85 coming to Santa Clarita any time soon, but it would have to sell for $1.00 a gallon to make it worth it considering the drop in mileage.
