I would love to be your neighbor, as I'm just as paranoid and protective of my vehicles. I feel your pain and hope you can get them to 'fess up to their mistake and take care of it. Are there any corresponding marks on their door?

Without better photos of the problem area it's hard to say what you need to do to fix it. The Magic Eraser may work if it is a paint transfer mark, but that doesn't seem likely if both vehicles are black. Your description sounds like clear coat damage at best. If so, it may be possible to fix with wet-sanding and polishing if there is enough clear left.

Thanks, wish it was you parked there instead. I just ordered some high quality polishes, sealants, and waxes, so I'll try to fix it. Worst case I get a new trim piece, they come painted. They didn't deny it, so we both know they're guilty. I did leave a long, detailed note for them. I said what I think, that I worked hard for this and shouldn't have to worry about it parked at home, and that I pretty much inspect my cars thoroughly twice a day so I can always figure out what happened, and if anything else happens it's gonna be real bad.
So the next day right when I woke up my girlfriend answers the door to this guy going on and on about how I upset his wife with this note sounding like they can't afford as good of cars as me, acting tough, yada yada. So I'm getting pissed and I go to the door, tell my girl to get out of the way, and say "yeah that's me here I am". I don't look so nice in the morning, so he got a little nicer and we talked about it. I said "you got a nice Mustang, I used to have one, how does my note say all that? You're missing the point." I went through all that about the way she parked but that usually it was cool... but now I got scratches so there's a problem here. Anyway he offered to switch spaces with his toyota, which he backs in so the door would never open into it. So I was like can't tell you what to do, but sounds fine. So that car doesn't park there any more, now just gotta try to fix it. My girl was laughing that he sounded all tough til I got there, and I was sounding pretty grouchy I know, telling him my side, and he wanted to shake hands and be all cool. Also funny, when he said "well we're neighbors so I'd like to just find a solution to resolve the problem", expecting me to be all agreeable, I just looked at him and said "You sound like a wise man". Had to be there but I know what I am in the morning. So that's that, but I still check it closely every day for any kind of retaliation, and if it costs me money it's gonna cost him. But to avoid retaliation I did say like, "yeah, I prefer to look out for my neighbors, and let me know if you ever need help with something". Sorry about the long post.

not to be a jerk or anything, but you need to get a hobby bro. I wouldnt want to be your neighbor. Dont sweat the small stuff. You'll live longer

And I'm a pretty easy guy to get along with until someone crosses me, and then, not so nice. I have a good sense of fairness and all that. Your attitude toward other peoples property probably would've earned you a fight if it was you knocking on my door that morning.

If you can afford a Tahoe you can afford to pay rent some where else. I lived in a apartment for about a year before I had to move out. I had the newest car in whole complex, never had any problems until some jackass egged my brand new black Xterra you can still see where the paint got damaged. I moved out a few weeks later. I ended up renting a house and paying twice as much for rent but I loved it. I had my own garage, enough said. Now I own my own house and the only dents I have to worry about are the ones I get at Wal-mart and I usally park in BFE.

A thought came to my mind. on my way to work I drive by the same apartments I used to live in. I've seen a few new tahoes and avalanches parked there. If you pay more for your Car than for your living quaters you need to set your priorites straight.

Your slam on me is kind of surprising... I see your point, and in a perfect world you're right, but it's not that simple. Yes, I can afford to live somewhere else. No, I don't want to be "ghetto rich", and my girlfriend won't be getting a new 5 series until we do buy a house. But here's the deal, without revealing too much of my personal business: We do want to move, but I can't buy until the market here hits bottom in a year or so. House rentals here are expensive, so I won't do it if it's a lot higher than current rent, but still looking. Just had another kid, trying to maintain a new company, not a lot of time to look around for anything right now. Got the Tahoe now because I lemoned my other car and needed a replacement- why avoid what you want, especially when it suits my young family? Besides that my apartment is "supposed" to be higher end, but whatever. If it was as simple as you say then trust me I would already be there, but it's not, man. True only that I'll probably get dings here that I wouldn't get in a garage.

If I look on the bright side, maybe it'll get side-swiped and over-write the scratches. But I really do try to count my blessings and keep everything in perspective, it's just that I can't just let people get away with trashing my things just because it's minor. Does that make sense?

My priorities are as straight as it gets, trust me.

There are many places in this country where you can afford a tahoe but not afford a home and whether or not you had a tahoe wouldn't make enough of a dent in your finances to buy a home or not.
